Our Personal Message to You

Welcome to Children & Adult Dentistry, the office of Dr. Scott C. Schwartz. Our top priority is helping children and adults achieve and maintain a lifetime healthy and beautiful smile!

Our professional team is “committed to excellence,” providing the highest standards of dental work and materials for your entire family in a pleasant and comfortable environment, always remembering that you, the patient, are the reason for being here.

Our entire team is educated and trained to use state-of-the-art procedures and technology, and our dental assistants are fully licensed. Our front office staff is highly skilled in insurance matters and will endeavor to address your needs in all areas concerning your treatment.

We believe in the importance of patient education and promise to speak candidly about your treatment options and progress. Intraoral pictures of your teeth are taken, and your needs are thoroughly reviewed with you.

If more time is needed, then a separate appointment time is made after hours in the evening for you and your family members to review your treatment plan with the doctor at no charge. Ask as many questions as you like. We want you to understand what your needs are and what we are going to do about them.

Several options will be reviewed, so your financial situation will be considered as well. Not everyone can afford the “Lamborghini treatment plan,” but restoring your smile and chewing ability can be accomplished with a treatment plan you will be comfortable with. We can stage out your treatment so you can smile and eat while going through the process of completing your treatment plan.

Many dental colleagues, hospital ERs, and medical offices from pediatric to plastic surgery to oncology have referred difficult cases of all ages (from 6 months to 103 years). Some were phobic children and adults looking for an alternative to sedation or hospitalizing for their needed dental work. Others just needed to find an office that would understand them.

If sedation is necessary for a child or adult, we can block out time in Health Park Hospitals operating room dental suite and perform any needed dental care under the sedative supervision of a hospital anesthesiologist. Dr. Schwartz has been on staff at all of Lee Memorial Health Care Hospitals for over 20 years.

From implant-supported crowns and dentures, fillings, root canals to all types of dental surgeries- everything can be done in our office without you having to go to other offices.

We look forward to seeing you in our office.

We have been serving Lee, Charlotte, and Collier County since 1992.

About the Office

We started out as a pediatric dental office in August 1992.

We were across the street that first day. It was the day of Hurricane Andrew.

We called the radio station and told them we were open and that if there were someone in need of emergency dentistry, we would help them. We worked that day till 8 PM. Some of them are still clients to date.

Parents started asking if I could treat them like I treated their children. I told them we have three simple philosophies:

  1. Treat the children like adults and adults like children.
  2. I’m committed to excellence.
  3. Work on the patient as if I’m working on my self.

We have watched a complete generation of children become adults with families of their own. Their teeth and their children’s teeth are protected by good hygiene and maintaining their sealants free for a lifetime. With sealants, it’s extremely difficult to get a cavity on top of the tooth, which has the highest frequency of decay than any other spot on the tooth.

You will find that each person gets treated with a no-rush atmosphere. If you need to reschedule due to another appointment, we understand, but Dr. Schwartz and his staff will never rush to catch up.” One at a time Philosophy.” We will work until we are done.

Perfect checkup certificates are given to 30-year patients. What a thrill to watch my work still going strong.

I tell all my patients that good dentistry will last. Yes, things happen from time to time, but mostly, it doesn’t.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Cancellation Guidelines and No Show Policy

Please call our office to cancel your appointment no later than 24 hours ahead of your appointment.

Financial Policy

Our office accepts several payment options for your convenience. We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. CareCredit is also available to help pay for procedures and treatments not covered by your insurance policy.

CareCredit is available to patients who want a payment plan of up to 12 months without interest. We can provide you with the necessary information on your first appointment if you wish.

All treatment plans for work to be done will be presented to you in advance, and unless prior arrangements have been made, payment is due at the time the service is rendered.

During your consultation, you will receive a document to sign, and by signing, you are only acknowledging that we presented a possible solution. We try to “guestimate” the worst-case scenario. Sometimes that’s the outcome, but other times it can be better than originally thought.

When removing a filling with decay, the tooth may have a fracture that would change a fill to a root canal and crown. And if the fracture went down the roots and the prognosis is poor, then an extraction and implant would be the treatment of choice.

The opposite can be true too. We may suggest that a tooth needs a root canal, and upon proceeding with the treatment, we may discover that it only needs a filling. Intraoral camera pictures will show you what’s going on and why, in some cases, a change of treatment plan is needed.

Please ask questions or share with us any concerns you may have. We are always happy to assist.

For questions regarding your account, please contact our office at (239) 939-7070. Often, a simple phone call can clear up any issues and misunderstandings.

Please remember that you’re fully responsible for any fees, regardless of your insurance policy. If you have secondary dental insurance coverage, we can explain what’s covered in your plan and help you fill out the insurance claim form, which our office can furnish at your request so that you can file directly for reimbursement.

First Visit

Your initial cleaning appointment will consist of any necessary X-rays, scaling, and prophy or prophy jet.

If you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, you will need a consultation with the hygienist and doctor regarding your treatment options. You will be shown the periodontal charting and discuss your pocket numbers.

If you or your family have a history of periodontal disease, there is a 50% chance you will get it too!

If your treatment plan is more involved than a regular cleaning – gross scaling or root planing, we will schedule another appointment to ensure you are properly treated.

Our dentist will perform a head and neck exam, review your medical history, diagnose 2-dimensional X-rays and CAT scan 3-dimensional images, if taken. We will also review your missing teeth, the general condition of your gums and bone, check for any signs of decay and assess the condition of any dental appliance you may have.

After the assessment, we will create a treatment plan for you based on our findings.

If you are in extreme pain due to a dental problem, we will do everything we can to alleviate your pain through emergency treatment and then schedule you for follow-up appointments afterward.

At the time of consultation, please provide us with the following details:

  • Referral slip (if applicable) and X-rays of your teeth if you have any
  • A list of medications you are taking right now

If you have a dental insurance plan, please bring your insurance card on your first visit. If an insurance card is not available, please provide us your subscriber number, group number, and the contact number of your insurer. These details are necessary so we can help you process your claim.

Important Reminders:

  • Patients younger than 18 years old need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian in all appointments involving irreversible dental procedures.
  • If you have any medical condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes, artificial heart valves, joint replacement, and other issues that may be of concern, please inform our office before your treatment. Please alert us if you are taking any medications such as heart medications, cholesterol-lowering drugs, anti-coagulant therapy, aspirin, and treatments to harden the bones.
  • If your physician or dentist has taken radiographic images and CAT scans of your mouth, please have them forwarded to us as these can aid us in our diagnosis. For digital radiographs, they can be sent to us via email:  childrenandadultdentistry@gmail.com.
  • Should additional films be needed, they can be taken at our facility. We strictly abide by the American Dental Associations’ policy to protect patients against radiation. We have thyroid collars on each X-ray shield and use the lowest possible dose of radiation.
